Cinderella was dancing in this years College Football Playoffs but Alabama was the clock that struck midnight. The Cincinnati Bearcats were the first Group of Five school to make the CFB Playoffs since their inception in 2014. Alabama, on the other hand, has been a mainstay in the playoffs as they've only missed one in that same time. Cincinnati's defense did an excellent job of containing the Crimson Tide a majority of the game but ultimately was undone by their offense. Cincinnati could only manage 218 total yards and scored zero touchdowns in the game. Quarterback Desmond Ridder completed 17-of-32 passes for only 144 passing yards for an average of 4.5 passing yards per completion. Alabama running back Brian Robinson Jr. had an outstanding game, rushing for a Crimson Tide Bowl record 204 rushing yards. The Heisman Trophy winner, Bryce Young, also contributed with three passing touchdowns. While the Bearcat would have preferred the victory, was this a great moral win for non-Power 5 school?
